The historic Everest Skydive event came to a finale today. 41 Solo and Tandem Jumpers skydived in front of the World’s Highest Peak and landed on the highest drop zone in the world, Shyangboche (12,350ft.). Their names have made it the international record books.
1st Group
In the first group, except for Fareed Lafta who jumped from an altitude 18,000ft, the rest of the dives were made from 29,500ft.

In this group, except for the tandem jump by Maya Gurung and Tom Noonan (which was done from a height of 22,500ft), the rest were made from the height of 29,500ft. Everest summiter Maya Gurung became the first Nepali woman to Skydive in the Everest region.

This is to inform that none of the Everest Skydive clients or crew were aboard on the ill fated Yeti Airlines plane crash that occurred this morning (8th October 2008 - 7:30 am Local Time) at Lukla airport.
Due to the unfortunate crash, the scheduled skydive program for today has been canceled.

Today 10 solo and 2 tandem jumps took place from a height of 29,500ft.. Wendy Smith from New Zealand again made two solo jumps today. With a total of five jumps to her credit, Wendy remains the skydiver with the highest number of jumps in this event.

The actual jumps of the Everest skydive took place this morning in Shyangboche. 10 solo and 3 tandem jumpers made their actual jumps today. Wendy Smith became the first solo jumper to land at the drop zone at 6:17am (local time). She jumped from a height of 22,000ft. Explore Himalaya’s trek guide Nima Tamang became the first Nepali to make a tandem jump (with Steve Hennessey) from a height of 22,000ft.
The jumpers were flown in 4 groups. All the jumps were made from Pilatus Porter aircraft.
